Rounders Safety

It is very important that Coaches are aware of Safety and Child protection issues. Please read the extract below.

All Rounders England Tutors and Assessors are required to have an up-to-date CRB check before they deliver/assess any of our courses. Tutors whose CRB checks are not currently on our database will be sent a letter, CRB application form and a self declaration form from Siân Barnett (Coaching Administrator) to be completed and returned as a matter of urgency. (Tutors/Assessors are required to complete a self declaration form to cover the period while the CRB application is being processed).

We DO accept portability of CRB checks undertaken by other organisations e.g. schools, other NGB’s and local authorities, however, the original documents must be sent to the Rounders England office in order to be accepted and amended on our database.

Rounders England require CRB checks to be undertaken every three years therefore, if Tutors have a CRB check which is over 3 years old, they will need to complete a new form for Rounders England.

*Please note all CRB checks for Tutors/Assessors will be free.

I am sure you will agree that up-to-date CRB checks are extremely important for all our Tutors/Assessors who will often lead courses for young people and who are also actively involved in coaching the sport.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Alan Fergus.

Many thanks for your co-operation.

Rounders England has a safety policy regarding equipment which is clearly stated in the rules.

In addition, coaches must be aware of the following extracts from the Code of Conduct:

  • Have a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of the participants/candidates with   whom they are working with as far as possible within the limits of their control.
  • Should take all reasonable steps to establish a safe working environment and put safety   above any other consideration, including the development. The work and the manner in   which it is done should be in keeping with regular and approved practice within rounders.
  • Should use activities suitable for the participants/candidates and their needs.
  • Should systematically prepare the participants/candidates for the activities being   undertaken and make them aware of their personal responsibilities in terms of safety.
