Whole Sport Plan for Rounders Published

After months of widespread consultation and drafting, the Whole Sport Plan created by the NRA to guide the future of Rounders during the period 2005-2009 has been submitted to Sport England.

Consultation on most aspects of the Plan was carried out with a large number of officials, organisers and playing members from the NRA, as well as with NRA staff and Executive Officers. The NRA is grateful to everyone who took the time to provide input.

In addition to setting out aspirations for our sport and details of programmes that can achieve key targets, the Whole Sport Plan will be the basis on which Sport England will make decisions about funding Rounders during the next four years.

As Rounders is now regarded by Sport England as a “development sport”, included in a group of some 31 sports that the agency will continue to support, the NRA has requested a considerable increase over previous levels of funding – or as we would see it, “under-funding”.

Key areas in the Whole Sport Plan include strtengthening the corporate infrastructure and workforce, increasing participation locally by appointing regional staff, developing and delivering a clearly defined coaching pathway and developing excellence and opportunities to succeed.

Stop Press!!
Sport England have awarded Rounders a grant of £100,000 per year to implement the Whole Sport Plan.
